Section: Section of Cancer Therapeutics (including the Cancer Research UK Centre for Cancer Therapeutics)
For a number of years, we have been at the forefront of the development of radical chemistry to make heterocyclic compounds of biological interest. Currently, we are using radicals in a remote activation sequence to generate the tetracyclic mitosene core in a short and stereo-controlled manner. This chemistry should allow the rapid synthesis of heterocyclic systems from simple substrates lacking conventional functionality.
